You know you need to pay taxes but have no idea how to calculate the correct amount.

You’ve heard your friends or fellow business owners talk about setting up an LLC for their business and it sounds important, but you don’t even know what that stands for.

You know that business owners are able to write off expenses on their taxes, but you don’t know the specifics of how that is done.

Or maybe you’ve been wanting to set up a meeting with a CPA or Attorney to talk about your business and you are worried you won’t be able to follow what they are talking about.

If you have a grand plan to grow your small business, a head-in-the-sand approach to taxes and receipts stored in shoe boxes isn’t going to cut it.

Tax laws apply to you regardless of the size of your business and getting a handle on things from the get-go will make being a small business owner a heck of lot less stressful.

What if… You knew the percentage of your profit that you need to set aside for taxes and had the records easily available to take advantage of all the deductions.

What if… You could walk into the meeting with your attorney armed with an understanding of business entities and feel empowered in that meeting.

What if… Instead of wondering whether you are taking advantage of all the tax deductions possible, you felt confident that you were.

Sheila Hansen CPAHi! I’m Sheila -a fun-loving CPA (Certified Public Accountant) with over 10 years experience who provides accounting services to small business owners who are passionate about their business.

I did the whole office-environment, dress-up-every-day, work-extra-long-hours-during-tax-season, Public Accounting Firm gig until it all became too much and left me thinking there had to be more to life.

In mid-2014, just before giving birth to our first baby, I left the accounting firm, and went to work as a controller of a manufacturing company. For 18 months, I learned the ropes of the accounting world outside public accounting, but I still felt called to live life on my terms. After two years of testing the waters, I made the leap into 100% self-employment as Sheila Hansen CPA.

In addition to offering services like tax preparation, monthly bookkeeping, consulting and payroll, I want my clients to feel comfortable and confident to come to me with any question, even if they think it may be a silly one.

I know that starting a small business can leave you feeling overwhelmed and lost, so after some inspiration from a great group of blogging friends, I put together, Accounting Basics for Small Business to help answer common questions and squelch the overwhelm.
