Today, I have a fellow CPA, Erica Goode, on the podcast to talk about her 15hr work week and how she has created space for all the other things she wants to be doing in life. Her story is such a great example of why we start our businesses in the first place and ensure we have our priorities set for the things we want to do.

In this episode, Erica shares her story of leaving behind the rigidity of the 9-to-5 grind to craft a business that beautifully aligns with her personal life by working a 15hr work week. She opens up about the importance of setting boundaries to avoid burnout and how she’s grown her business at a pace that fits her children’s schedules.

We explore the liberating concept of embracing unconventional business growth. We emphasize the significance of listening to one’s own heart rather than external pressures and creating a work-life balance that suits individual needs.

Erica Goode has been a Certified Public Accountant for 15 years. She runs a virtual accounting firm that supports consultants with bookkeeping, accounting, and CFO services. Erica also hosts the Consultants and Money podcast. She’s a former Director of Finance at a Fortune 50 company and started her career as an auditor at a Big 4 public accounting firm. Erica is also the mom of two and the wife of a fellow CPA. She lives with her family in the mountains of Idaho.

In this episode, The 15hr Work Week with Erica Goode, we cover:

  • The critical importance of aligning business goals with personal aspirations, particularly for those approaching significant life changes like retirement
  • Benefits of maintaining a smaller client base to foster deeper relationships and the magic of time blocking as a strategy to achieve a 15hr work week
  • Societal pressures that glorify relentless ambition and overwork, especially within the CPA industry, and realizations about redefining success on our own terms
  • The importance of listening to one’s own heart, understanding unique talents, and creating a fulfilling career path tailored to individual needs
